Important COVID-related information & requirements to attend on site

Anyone planning to attend EGU22 on site in Vienna needs to fulfil the requirements to enter EGU22 at the Austria Center Vienna. In addition, we are compiling information to help you to navigate through the Austrian travel and safety regulations; we invite you to frequently check our page Up-to-date COVID-19 information for attending EGU22.

If you start to feel unwell at any point during EGU22, even without a positive COVID-19 test, please put the wellbeing of your fellow attendees first, and refrain from attending the meeting in-person. If you do test positive for COVID-19 we ask that you inform us as soon as possible by emailing: covid-test-result@egu.eu. Your information will be completely confidential and only read by one EGU staff person, but will allow us to monitor the general state of the meeting. Participants who have tested positive (and will stay in Vienna) are asked to call 1450 (+431450 for foreign phones) to receive further instructions from the Austrian authorities.

What's on today?

How to access the sessions?

On-site attendees are supposed to attend the sessions on site in the lecture rooms rather than accessing sessions virtually through Zoom since this limits the overall bandwidth of the congress centre. Therefore, the ACV Wifi will not allow you to access the Zoom sessions. All virtual attendees (regardless if convener, presenter, or visitor) will access the Zoom sessions via the online programme. There will be an "Enter Zoom Meeting" button in the online programme for the session of interest appearing 15 minutes before the session starts. It is necessary to be logged in with your Copernicus Office user ID for which the conference registration has been purchased.

How to present?

All sessions are run in a fully hybrid mode, using the lecture room settings for on-site attendees combined with Zoom for virtual participants. This setup will allow both on-site and virtual attendees to follow and present in the session equally. The presentation file must be uploaded at the very latest 24 hours before your session starts. In order to guarantee a flawless conducting of the session, the presentation is run inside the lecture room. On-site presenters will forward their slides themselves while for virtual presenters, the conference assistant in the room is supposed to forward your slides. In both cases, the presentation is shared in the Zoom session to be watched by on-site and virtual attendees equally. In exceptional cases, virtual presenters can share their presentation themselves in Zoom running on their computer. On-site and virtual presenters are supposed to give a live presentation. If barriers (e.g., time zone, unstable Internet connection) required virtual presenters to upload a recorded presentation beforehand, this video is also run inside the lecture room and shared in the Zoom session. Please read the presenter guidelines carefully.

Access our virtual conference centre

Our virtual conference centre is accessible for all attendees with a completed registration for EGU22. It is optimized for Chrome/Edge browsers, but works fine on Firefox and Safari. If anything goes wrong, please try first to hard refresh the page (e.g. Ctrl+F5 on Windows), not only a simple refresh. JavaScript and style sheet files are often cached in your browser. Click on the entrance hall below and please enjoy EGU22 to the fullest. Thank you very much.

Aims & scope

The EGU General Assembly 2022 will bring together geoscientists from all over the world for one meeting covering all disciplines of the Earth, planetary, and space sciences. The EGU aims to provide a forum where scientists, especially early career scientists, can present their work and discuss their ideas with experts in all fields of geoscience.

The last two General Assemblies, Sharing Geoscience Online in 2020 and vEGU21: Gather Online, were organized as virtual meetings due to the Covid-related restrictions. In 2022, the EGU aims to provide an on-site experience again for those attending in-person, while at the same time introducing new concepts to include virtual attendees as much as possible. The EGU General Assembly 2022 (EGU22) will be a conference with a virtual component where everybody is welcome, in person or online! We plan for the format of the conference to be flexible, giving us the opportunity to more easily adapt to the uncertain global context.
